John Murphy - Principal Consultant

Admitted as a Solicitor in 1976. Employed at age 23 as the Senior Industrial Officer with the Health and Research Employees Association in charge of four other experienced Industrial Officers, 1976 – 1986. Conducted cases in both the Federal and NSW Industrial Relations jurisdictions. Admitted as a Barrister in New South Wales in 1983. Commenced practice as Barrister in 1986, specializing in Industrial Relations, Employment Law, Occupational Health and Safety Law and Discrimination Law. Named in the 2011 Doyle’s Guide as one of four in Australia (two in NSW) “preeminent” junior counsel practicing employment law. From December 2015 to July 2022, Commissioner of the Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales.
